Destiny 2 Trials of the Nine Launches Today
Similar to Trials of Osiris featured in the first Destiny game, the Destiny 2 Trials of the Nine is a Crucible game mode (PvP) where Fireteams of Guardians must defeat opposing teams in a grueling battle for supremacy to lay claim to extremely rare gear at the end of the event.
A teaser from Bungie called on all able Guardians to test their teamwork in the game’s upcoming game mode. Their statement regarding Destiny 2’s Trials of the Nine reads:
“Enter the Trials of the Nine to face your fellow Guardians in high intensity Crucible combat. Stand together and be judged. Succeed and be rewarded! Trials of the Nine goes live on Friday, September 15th at 10AM PT.”
While essentially the sequel’s version of The Trials of Osiris, The Destiny 2 Trials of the Nine event will pit Fireteams composed of four Guardians instead of three against other squads.
Destiny 2‘s Crucible PvP has an extremely competitive community, with the skill gap among players very evident throughout each match. Because of this, Bungie may also be including an update to better handle matchmaking in the game. In line with this, the developers will be addressing a bug that seems to have been causing some unfair groupings for the Competitive playlist.
Bungie goes into better detail regarding this with another statement.
“Too many players are getting stomped by opponents who grossly outmatch them. In order to match you properly with an opponent in your league, we need to apply your skill rating. There is a bug we need to fix to ensure that this is done properly. We are applying that fix right now.
“If you’ve been getting your ass kicked in Competitive, you’ll have more of a fighting chance. If you’ve been kicking ass in Competitive, we’re sending some worthier opponents your way.”
