Abzu is a boss encountered in Midgar sewers and is one of the pets of Don Corneo. The boss has a variety of different attacks, including using sewer water to take out its targets. Abzu is weak to fire.

Bash and Smash
Abzu slams its massive fists three times toward targets.
Abzu slams raises both its arms in the air and smashes down on the ground.
Abzu briefly charges itself before causing the pools of sewer water around the battlefield to explode.
Abzu faces in the direction of its target and charges toward it.
Abzu clings on a sewage pipe and launches itself toward its target. If it connects, the Abzu will bind its target and continuously deal damage with its tongue. The attack can be dodged, causing Abzu to fall down and become vulnerable to attacks for a brief moment.

Use fire magic and fire-imbued weapons.
Abzu is weak to fire, so fire magic and attacks imbued with fire are very effective against it.
Because of Abzu’s weakness to fire, it is recommended to summon Ifrit for the fight. Abzu’s HP can be reduced significantly with Ifrit’s attacks, especially Hellfire.
Dodge Abzu’s pounce attack.
Abzu will be left helpless if it misses with its pounce attack. Time your dodge to make Abzu fall down and unload on it with attacks before it gets up.
If the character you are controlling is bound, switch a different one and attack Abzu until it retreats.
Attack Abzu’s horns with fire magic.
Casting Fire on any of Abzu’s horns causes it to reel in pain, allowing you to interrupt its attacks. If you manage to break either of the horns, Abzu will writhe for a considerably longer period, giving you the opportunity to press on the offense before it can retaliate.
