Gigantipede Strategies

Below is a guide on how to beat the Gigantipede, including recommenced party, equipment, skills, magic, Materia, and abilities to use against the boss:

First Phase (100% HP)

Start engaging the boss by throwing Yuffie’s 4-Point Shuriken towards the head of the boss. As it gets close and surrounds the party, it will use its Tail Swat move so be on the lookout and evade.

Keep on hitting the face of the boss to build up the pressure but expect hostility in the form of gunshots and missiles through its Containment Laser move. Use Lightning Ninjutsu to consistently damage the boss. Keep building up your ATB gauges and use Synergy Commands like Windstorm when it is available. Always make it a point to recover lost HP.

Second Phase (75% HP)

After some time, the boss will move away from the center of the battlefield. Then, it will show up above and cling to the steel walls. When it becomes stationary, it will use its next move, Drone Deployment. Multiple Containment Drones will come out of its body and descend towards your party. It will also use missile and laser attacks so be on guard while getting close to it. After launching its attacks, finish them off with throw and ninjutsu attacks.

Once the drones are defeated, the boss will use its Death Dive move. This boss will return to the battlefield while also attempting to hit your party when it lands. Anticipate the attack and evade the landing area.

After the landing, the boss will also use its Body Blow move. Avoid and take advantage by attempting to use Synergy Commands like The Art of War to hurt the boss while it recovers. Make use of summons like Carbuncle to further pressure and stagger and boss.

Third Phase (25% HP)

The head of the boss will convert into a drill. Keep on targeting the head while it goes around the battlefield. It will still use its Drone Deployment move again to distract your party. If the boss is nearing its death, focus on it. Otherwise, target the drones first to lessen the distraction.
