The Huntsman is a boss encountered in Chapter 2: Fateful Encounters. He is a more formidable version of the Riot Trooper, using a shield and electrified baton in combat.

Name Details
Baton Swing Strikes using his electrified baton.
Block and Counter The Huntsman will block frontal attacks and counter immediately with his shield. Causes knockdown.
Riot Shield The Huntsman charges at your direction with his shield to knock you down.


The battle starts out with the Huntsman accompanied by other Shinra troops. Be sure to take out the weaker enemies first and leave the Huntsman last. You can use fire magic to quickly dispatch the others or save your MP for the Huntsman when he is alone.

The Huntsman has high HP and defense. A good strategy against him is to parry his attacks using Punisher mode or use Fire until he is staggered, then unload on him with Punisher mode’s strong attack and more magic. You can also outflank him by dodging behind him since he will not be able to turn fast enough, allowing you to get in a few hits before he defends with his shield again. Repeat the process until he is defeated.
