Final Fantasy 7 Remake Unique Commands and Abilities
In addition to normal attacks and magic, Final Fantasy 7 Remake will allow characters to use unique commands and abilities to take down enemies. We listed all unique commands, abilities, and limit break attacks featured in various trailers and gameplay demos. Included are the actual mechanics for some of the attacks seen in the Playstation Access demo.
Cloud
Operator / Punisher Mode
Cloud’s unique command lets him switch between two different fighting stances. Operator mode is a balanced stance for throwing out controlled strikes and grants Cloud decent mobility. Punisher mode, meanwhile, allows Cloud to perform slow and heavy swings that deal more damage.
Braver
Cloud’s first limit break attack in the original game. Braver has been reworked as one of the his abilities and uses up one level of his ATB gauge.
Focused Thrust
An attack that significantly builds up the enemy’s burst gauge, allowing Cloud to easily stagger them. As with braver, this move expends one level of Cloud’s ATB gauge when used.
In the Tokyo Game Show 2019 demo, the attack was referred to as “burst slash.” It is currently unknown what the move will be called in the final version.
Triple Slash
Allows Cloud to dash around enemies in a circular motion while slashing three times. Seems to be effective when he is surrounded. Uses up one level of the ATB gauge.
Cross Slash
Cloud’s first limit break attack. Hits three times, the last strike dealing the most damage.
Barrett
Overcharge
Barret’s unique command that lets him fire charged shots.
Steelskin
Steelskin temporarily reduces damage taken and how easily enemies can interrupt attacks. It expends one level of the ATB gauge when used.
Focused Shot
A charged shot that expends all of Barret’s ATB gauge. Similar to Cloud’s focused thrust ability, the move fills up a good amount of the target’s burst meter.
Bullet Barrage
Peppers foes with a long stream of bullets. Also uses up Barret’s entire ATB gauge.
Fire in the Hole
Barret’s first limit break. Hits an enemy with an extremely powerful shot that explodes on impact.
Tifa
Bash / Omnipunch
Tifa’s unique commands. Briefly shown in the E3 2019 trailer, bash and omnipunch may likely be two attacks that Tifa can chain during combos.
Somersault
Tifa’s first limit break attack. Hits once. In the TGS 2019 demo, the move seemed to fill up a significant amount of the enemy’s burst gauge.
Aerith
Tempest
Aerith’s unique command. There does not seem to be any detailed information on it in released footage. It is, however, speculated to be a thunder-based magic attack based on its name and animation in the E3 2019 trailer.
Healing Wind
Aerith’s first limit break. Heals all allies. It does not seem to be able to restore a summon’s active gauge, as seen in the TGS 2019 demo.
