Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s new character Roche
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set to introduce a new character not found in the original game. First featured in the TGS 2019 trailer, a mysterious man on a red motorbike was seen pursuing Cloud and the Avalanche team. Official sources, including an article from Famitsu, eventually revealed the man’s name as Roche along with some interesting details about the character.

Roche goes by the moniker “Speed Demon” for his love of bikes, speed, and competition. A 3rd class member of SOLDIER, Roche had become a rebel for reasons yet to be revealed. He is described as being hated by his comrades. Additional information also stated that Roche’s arrival is always marked by “the squeal of tires and smell of burnt rubber.”
In terms of design, Roche is seen wearing a unique variant of the standard SOLDIER uniform. His outfit consists of the familiar wide SOLDIER belt worn over a dark blue biker’s jacket and pants. On his shoulders are pauldrons which are quite different from the regular ones issued to Shinra’s elite operatives.
Roche appeared in the TGS trailer wielding a standard SOLDIER sword and doing acrobatic moves on his bike. He is likely to be a formidable foe when encountered, as SOLDIERs are known for having superhuman abilities by being exposed to the mysterious substance called Mako.
