As previously confirmed, Red XIII, the wolf-like member of Cloud’s party, will not be playable in the first part of the game. While indeed sad news for many fans, Mr. Hamaguchi revealed in the interview that there will be special section in the endgame area where the lupine companion will play a major role during the party’s escape from Shinra headquarters.

“The key to navigating this floor lies in using Red XIII’s unique physical abilities to overcome environmental obstacles. Letting the player experience his heroics in this way is something that I’m confident will please the fans,” says Mr. Hamaguchi.

The interview ends on an interesting note. When asked if the remake will have secrets or hidden bosses, the co-director responded reassuringly for fans excited about the content.

“I don’t want to say precisely what’s in FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE, but if you’re expecting endgame content, you won’t be disappointed.”
