New and Altered Scenes in Latest Trailer
Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s latest trailer confirms more familiar characters, enemies, and cutscenes, including new and altered events not found in the original game. The game is scheduled for release on April 10th, 2020.
Sephiroth in Shinra Headquarters
The trailer showed a new scene not found in the original game where Cloud and his party encounter Sephiroth at what appears to be a specimen tank in Shinra Headquarters. The event likely depicts Cloud and his party infiltrating Shinra Headquarters to rescue Aerith.
In the first game, the only trace of Sephiroth being present in Shinra Headquartes is his sword impaled on President Shinra.
The Shinra Company’s method of harnessing the mysterious substance called mako to create materia was also featured in the trailer.
Overseeing the process was Scarlet, Head of Weapons Development, relaxing in a sofa chair at the Shinra Headquarters laboratory.
In the trailer, Scarlet can be seen with her legs resting on a Shinra guard, highlighting her domineering personality from the original game.
Cloud’s Make-over in Wall Market
The trailer included an elaborate scene at Wall Market’s Honey Bee Inn where Cloud is forced to dress up as a girl. He reluctantly agrees to don the disguise to be allowed entry into Don Corneo’s mansion.
The original game only showed Cloud briefly going into a curtained room after obtaining various pieces of the disguise and stepping out already dressed.
A flamboyant man who has yet to be named also appeared in the trailer. He was shown assisting Cloud for his transformation.
Battle with Roche
Halfway through the video was another new scene with the mysterious character Roche. He prepares to battle Cloud and AVALANCHE at one of Shinra’s mako reactors.
Roche’s dialogue suggests that he has clashed with Cloud and his allies earlier in the story.
Heli Gunner Fight
Also featured in the trailer was the altered appearance of the Heli Gunner, one of Shinra Company’s many war machines fought as a boss. In the video, Cloud and his party were seen being pursued by the large construct at what appears to be some ruins in Midgar.
In the original game, the Heli Gunner was encountered at Shinra Headquarters only after Cloud and his party split up into two groups.
