Cardinal Profile

The Cardinal is a fanatical kett who kidnaps Angarans and turns them into kett (by their method of exalting them). The Cardinal is the Prefect in charge of Kett Command on Voeld. It is first seen in Kett Command giving a “fortunate welcome” to the angara who have been chosen to be “exalted”. Following the diversion that Ryder’s angaran allies trigger, it is quickly questioned by the Archon if the Moshae is ready for transport. It replies that she is being prepared for final exaltation which is the process of going from angara to kett.

Like most of the kett, the Cardinal is no different from any other kett as they prize for physical supremacy and genetic dominance, assimilating conquered beings. The kett believe their species is superior to all others, and as such, the conquered have two fates: either become “exalted”, altered on a genetic level to become kett, or enslaved for the glory of the empire. The Cardinal acts as lieutenant among the kett forces, second in command only to the Archon. Physically, kett are taller and leaner than humans, walking in a “digitigrade”fashion. They have clouded eyes and no apparent lower jaw, with their head crowned by a large translucent dome. The only difference with the Cardinal is that the osseous armor that covers its body  of the bones is violet.
