Jien Garson Profile

Jien Garson is one of humanity’s wealthiest and most eccentric entrepreneurs in the Milky Way. She is a human billionaire responsible for spearheading the Andromeda Initiative beginning in 2176. Garson leads the expedition from the Nexus, and is in charge of briefing Initiative recruits on the mission-critical information they will be using once they arrive in the Andromeda Galaxy; Arks and Nexus overviews, ground and space vehicle certifications, outpost establishment guidelines, first contact protocols, and even weapons/biotics/survival training for people accepted in the Pathfinder team. Her business interests were wide-ranging as she made her fortune from investments in a myriad technology-related fields.

Always a maverick, it was her vision of traveling to a new galaxy that set the Andromeda Initiative in motion. Ignoring skeptics and naysayers, Garson spent vast sums of money building or acquiring the necessary technology and ships to make the long voyage possible. It was a private venture, entirely funded by Garson so as to remain free from any government oversight.

As a result of the Nexus‘ collision with the Scourge upon entering the Heleus Cluster in 2818, Garson and several other high-ranking members of the Initiative died when their stasis pods were destroyed. Garson never saw her dream realized, and the title of Director of the Andromeda Initiative fell to Jarun Tann, who was eighth in line for the succession.
