The remake for Final Fantasy VII has been shortlisted for the Most Wanted Game prize at the 37th Golden Joystick Awards. The shortlist was revealed in a recent tweet on the Golden Joysticks official Twitter page.

The Golden Joystick Awards is an annual awards ceremony wherein people online can cast their votes on which video game should win in specific categories. Originally known as the People’s Gaming Awards, this Golden Joystick Awards is now the longest-running video game awards ceremony, having been giving awards to the best games of each year since 1983.

Interestingly, the Final Fantasy franchise has won three awards from said ceremony. The first win of the series was the Mobile Game of the Year award in 2007 for Final Fantasy Mobile, the second was for the Soundtrack of the Year award in 2010 for Final Fantasy XIII, and the most recent one is the Hall of Fame Award in 2017 for the franchise as a whole.
