A Trail of Hope Walkthrough [Mass Effect Andromeda]

Helping Havarl’s Scientists

Once you reach the area, fly to the Faorang system and find Havarl. Before landing, perform a brief scan before scrolling over to the landing zone. When you’re ready, set down. Before you do so, take Jaal with you. As the Tempest drops down, there are beasts from Habitat 7. But it’s not just one but a ton of them. The good news is, they won’t attack the ship.

Once you hit the ground, speak to the scientists at Pelaav. Check your party before making a straight down the bridge. After crossing the bridge, you’ll find yourself at the laboratory.

When you enter the laboratory, Jaal introduces you to Kiiran Dals.

Jaal: “Ryder, Kiiran Daals, lead scientist at Daar Pelaav.”

Text This planet’s amazing. Honoured.
Outcome N/A Kiiran: “Are all their people this formal?”

After that, Jaal asks what happened to the rest of the crew. He explains to Kiiran that you have experience with the Remnant. However, something went wrong. While the team went to explore the monolith, they all got caught in some Remnant Stasis field. They remained frozen in place, completely unresponsive.

Kiraan Dals: “They were caught in some kind of Remnant Stasis field. Frozen in place. Unresponsive.”

Text Let me help. But they’re not dead?
Outcome Jaal: Ryder has seen a vault and apparently reset it. Somehow. N/A

Clearly, Kiiran doesn’t trust you. However, she’s willing to give you a chance. But she does warn you to be careful otherwise things can go wrong. Nobody knows what triggered the stasis and it might happen again.

After that, head out of the laboratory and head down the path. As you’re making your way to the monolith, Jaal warns you of the Roekaar, Angaran fanatics. They hate aliens and will likely shoot you on the spot. Just peachy. Just keep on going and make your way towards the mission marker which leads you straight to the monolith.

However, once you the reach monolith, there are several problems. You have some angry Observers and a powerful Nullifier. Take out the Observers but, watch out for the Nullifier. When it uses beams, it can take out a large chunk out of you. As the beams fire, take full cover. After dishing out some damage and knocking them down, run to the back of the monolith. There, you’ll the find researchers. And true enough, they’re in the stasis field.

If you want to unfreeze them you have to find the two glyphs. One is on the pillar to the left of the console. And the other one is on a very short structure to the right of the console. After you grab those two, interact with the console to solve the puzzle. This is what you put in Havarl‘s glyph puzzle:

Once you solve the puzzle, the Angara research team is freed from the stasis. They’re all in shock and surprise as one of them manages to gather his bearings.

Assistant Torvar: “Skutt! Skutting stars! What? Who are… How did…”

Text You’re welcome. I’m Ryder.
Outcome N/A “More aliens appearing out of nowhere. What’s going on?”

With that, you explain to the shocked Angara that they were frozen in stasis. Unfortunately, the Angara is a bit antsy and quite distrustful. With that, Torvar tells the rest of the team to pack up and tell Kiraan that there are “alien” presences near the monolith. After that, Jaal contacts you:

Jaal: “What’s your status, Ryder? Did you figure out what happened to the research team?”

Text They don’t like me. We rescued them.
Outcome N/A “That’s good news. You should come too. Kiraan looks like she wants to talk to you.”

Now that you’re done with that, head back to the headquarters and speak to Kiraan Dals. According to Jaal, she wants to talk to you.

Research Area

Upon your return, you see Torvar speaking to Kiraan about “grey spiky aliens”. You identified them as “Turians” although, there is no confirmation for the information. Torvar checks your data and you’re clean in their eyes. Before Torvar continues, Kiiran Dals wants to thank you for saving her team.

Kiiran Dals: “I apologize for the indifferent welcome you received from me earlier.”

Text You weren’t that bad. It was understandable.
Outcome N/A Jaal: Ryder, what you’ve done here, your Remnant understanding, and your SAM, should convince Evfra you’re an asset.”

With that, Jaal insists you speak to him as soon as you can. Most likely, on the Tempest. Torvar however has another idea. If you can use the Remnants, that means they can use the monoliths to stop Havarl‘s decline! However, Kiiran says that’s for another time and to not forget to tell Torvar about the Turians.

After that, head back to the Tempest to leave Havarl and talk to Evfra.

Tempest

Once you’re on the Tempest, head back to where you had a meeting with the rest of the crew. There, you can email Evfra and respond to his calls. He mentions that Jaal has been keeping him updated about your work. While he did praise you for your selfless act, he knows you’re doing it for the vault in Aya.

Evfra: “But your true agenda is clear – to explore Aya‘s vault. Jaal says you want to help find the Moshae. Why should I let you?”

Text I get shit done. I keep my word.
Outcome N/A “Keep your promises and little by little, our bond will grow.”

So apparently, Evfra doesn’t trust you yet. Now, you have some new information. Apparently, the Moshae are in a special Kett facility on Voeld. Why is it so special? It’s because the Angara find themselves clueless in breaking some sort of dynamic shield tech. They haven’t broken it yet. What makes it worse is that the shield adapts and “outstrips” any process the Angara implement to take it down. SAM suggests that you add his program to the Angara tech in order to help them break the shield.

Evfra: “Respectfully, the Angara don’t need anything from you. We take care of our own.”

Text Of course. Apologies. You need my AI.
Outcome “Hmph.” N/A

So, Evfra‘s being a stubborn little prick. But after a little persuading, Evfra lets you in on the mission. He then informs you that the team will meet up with you in Voeld. Once he reaches there, they’ll take you to the Kett facility. With that, Evfra breaks the call. Now, head to the bridge and make your way to Voeld.

  1. The Cardinal is actually a female Angara. When you saw the male angara become transformed into a Kett, he looked like one of those chosen or anointed Kett. The destined Kett are female as well.
