Phantom Enemy Profile

phantom
Also known as typhon anthrophantasmus.

Phantoms are not wholly alien. They are created by weavers using human remains. Phantoms have been known to exhibit human-like neural patterns at times. They may attempt to reproduce human phrases, but don’t retain comprehension.

Background

The TALOS-I space station wasn’t always deserted–and isn’t right now. The outbreak of lower typhon creatures begat these alien soldiers. The corpses and corrupted bodies of the space station’s residents are re-purposed by the typhon for their unknowable intent.

Behavior

When not engaged in combat, phantoms prowl and shamble through the hallways and foyers of TALOS-I. However, these shambling humanoids will mercilessly pursue you should they take notice. Blinking around, they can quickly catch up to you to deal melee damage.

Phantoms unleash spheres of kinetic energy to destroy their opponents from afar.

Strategy

Phantoms are menacing creatures with a devastating kinetic blast attack. On your first encounter, you’ll have to use your wrench and gloo cannon a lot. Hold down your fire button to charge your wrench attack, then let go to inflict a huge chunk of damage. Retreat to turrets if you want alternative ways of finishing the job.

Dispatching phantoms is as easy as one-two-three if you have Combat Focus, your heffy wrench, a Disruptor Stun Gun, and a decently upgraded Shotgun. Using combat focus, you can dodge the phantom’s kinetic blasts. Stun him with your disruptor and get in close enough for a shot. Then, use your wrench to finish him off. This method is efficient if you want to save precious Q-beam ammunition.
