Game Overview

Destiny 2 is a multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Bungie in assistance with Vicarious Visions and High Moon Studios, and published by Activision. The game combines fast-paced competitive FPS combat with elements of role-playing games. Destiny 2 will be a direct sequel to the first Destiny game released in 2014 and its subsequent expansions The Dark Below, House of Wolves, The Taken King and Rise of Iron.

Destiny 2 takes place a year after the events of Destiny: Rise of Iron. The Last City had been attacked by the Red Legion faction of the Cabal, a heavily militarized empire of large amphibians under the command of Dominus Ghaul. The warlord of the Cabal had worked to strip the Guardians of their powers, believing that the Traveler was wrong in giving humanity the light. The Guardians, powerless, flee the Tower and seek refuge elsewhere. The scattered lot must find a way to reclaim their powers to stop Ghaul and the Red Legion across new worlds throughout the game.

The sequel will offer players the unmistakable adrenaline of competitive FPS combat coupled with the exciting RPG elements of leveling, and farming loot (weapons and armor) to deck out your character for battle. It has also been confirmed that players of the original Destiny can have their characters’ physical appearance carried over to Destiny 2, but only if they have reached level 20 and completed the Black Garden quest of the first game.

What is Destiny ?

Destiny 2 is the direct sequel to the hit FPS role-playing game by Bungie which was released in 2014 for the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Destiny 2 will be the first in the series to be playable on Microsoft Windows, giving access to a wider player base than the previous game. To date, Destiny has a player base of over 20 million players registered worldwide.

Destiny’s narrative began after the so-called Golden Age of mankind, where space exploration and colonization has furthered civilization into an era of peace and prosperity. Unfortunately, a horrible catastrophe known as The Collapse had destroyed most of mankind to near-extinction. Most of Destiny’s locations depict the calamity that erupted, and it is in these dystopian maps where players battle it out online.

Players take on the role of Guardians, armed warriors possessing unique powers who venture deep into the ruin of humanity to unravel the mysterious of The Collapse and the hordes of dark forces that threaten mankind.

FPS Combat with MMORPG Elements

Destiny fuses the concept of adrenaline-driven FPS combat with MMORPG mechanics, which is still the trademark feature of Destiny 2.

MMORPGs (Massively multiplayer online role-playing games) greatly emphasizes the social aspect of gaming where each player must share the game environment with other online users through a multitude of interactions. Because of this, the game is constantly updated to balance certain aspects, and adding more story content, characters, classes, abilities and equipment.

Battles are typical of the FPS genre with constant gun battles and firefights throughout the game.

Battles in Destiny are largely gun battles. Players are aided by different skills and abilities which may alter the FPS view of the game during play.

Players can acquire various weapons at the gunsmith (left), and customize their character’s loadout before battle (right).

Your characters can also be decked out with various equipment and armor in the game. These can be bought or sold at the main ship. Destiny encourages players to customize their characters according to their preferred playstyle.

A collaborative mode of play known as Co-op mode will allow players to team up with other Guardians to complete area raids and quests. Guardians will need to rely on teamwork to defeat the hordes of enemies here, as well as the boss waiting at the end of each level.

Players band together to take down a boss in the game.

During the last half of the game, you’ll need to go online in multiplayer mode, so it is important to be mindful of etiquette when interacting with other players.
