Nioh and Nioh 2 (including all DLCs) are also bundled in the Nioh Collection on PS5.
As with other events and characters in Nioh, The Malefactors is based on real events, this time being the aftermath of the Siege of Shigisan Castle in 1577, where Daimyo Oda Nobunaga besieged the forces of Matsunaga Hisahide. Matsunaga committed seppuku, while his sons jumped off the castle walls to their deaths.
Sub Mission – The Malefactors Walkthrough
The Malefactors starts you off inside a courtyard, standing between two braziers. Make offerings at the shrine in front of you if you need upgrades, then enter the open area of the courtyard. A revenant standing guard at the doorway to your left will attack you when he spots you. Take care of him, but be careful as his spear can do some serious damage. Aside from the revenant, Skeleton Warriors will rise up from the shallow pool beside the doorway. Take them out as well.
The doorway ahead of you is locked for now, so follow the path beside the doorway out to a larger area of the courtyard instead. Go down the slope to the ground level, where a Giant Skeleton is waiting to challenge you. A revenant is also hanging around, as well as a giant spider. The revenant here is armed with a poleaxe and a bow, giving him range in combat.
A One-eyed Oni will spawn from a Yokai gate located at the right side of the courtyard. Once he’s killed, follow the path downward until you reach a small building. A treasure chest is inside the building, but it’s surrounded by nests of spider eggs. Once you have collected the loot from the chest, go back to the area where you fought the first revenant. You will see that the doorway is now open.
Enter the doorway into an inner yard. The door to your right is locked, so go into the building ahead. An Ittan-momen or Flying Bolt yokai will appear at the base of a tree in the inner courtyard.
Defeat her, then turn right into the corridor. Inspect the rooms in the area to find another revenant. There might be Skeleton Warriors and Giant Spiders in the area as well. Go back into the corridor, then make another right to exit into the yard once more. Open the door in front of you, and inspect the room inside this area to find another revenant. Defeat the revenant to complete the mission.
