Twilight Mission – An Ominous Cavern Walkthrough

Welcome to the Ominous Cavern! Upon entering the crimson caves, head to the first room below. There, you’ll find a Dweller and a Skeleton Warrior hiding among debris and pots. Check the side passage for a small chest holding a Yokai Water Pot x1 and Arrows x2.

Head out towards the cliffs. Watch out for the Skeleton Warrior in the alcove on your left. It’s going to try pushing you over the cliff. Just like the time you were looking for Hino Enma, there are a couple of bats out for your blood. Reenter the tunnels to a large room filled with Yokai. First, take out the Fiend in the middle. After that, take out the Skeleton Warrior off the right. When you’re done with those two, snipe out the Skeleton Archer patrolling the upper walkway. Upon their defeat, walk up the upper walkway to get a good shot at the Biwa Boku-boku. He’s going to piss you off and summon nearby Revenants if you don’t take him out.

On your way out, check the lit tunnel on the right for a room. Inside, there are chests with a Dweller hiding among them in both rooms. Grab the first small chest holding Horoku-dama x2 and the other one holds a Hyottoko Mask and a Small Spirit Stone x1.

Since the Boss’s Room ain’t open yet, head down the path to enter the first door on the right. But watch out for an ambush! There’s a Skeleton Warrior and a Giant Skeleton! Draw them out one at the time or if you have Living Weapon, use it. Head into the farthest store room to check a body for a Small Spirit Stone x1. However, there’s still a Dweller and Skeleton lurking in the room. Against the far wall, there’s a Nurikabe Wall. Before you try to approach the wall, check the Revenant nearby. It’ll tell you how to soothe the wall into opening up.

After it opens up, check the secret alcove. Backstab the Skeleton Archer before opening the large chest for some Arrows x3 and a Squire’s Jumonji Spear.

With that, drop down to the lower level. You can use the falling attack to ambush the Yokai Fiend to get the Boss’s Room Key. After that, check a nearby small chest for Spirit Iron Fragment x2 and a Small Spirit Stone x1. There’s also a corpse on the side for a Sacred Water x1. Head to the Boss’s Room at the top to fight a Yokai Fiend and Skeleton Warrior before grabbing the large chest.

With that, proceed down the path back out towards the cliffs. Watch out for the patrolling Fiend and Giant Skeleton. Draw them out one by one before proceeding. Pull the nearby lever to create a platform above you. This way, you can nab a Whetstone x1 and Officer’s Spear. Check also the ledge on the left for an alcove leading to a Dweller guarding a Wind Amulet.

Before heading into the Hot Springs, take out the enemies first. However, it’s not that easy since a Biwa Boku-Boku’s playing nearby. Cling onto the cliffs above the hot springs. There’s a Dweller waiting to ambush you with a Skeleton Archer into the first tunnel. There are more graves and check your left to finally knock down that Biwa Boku-Boku. After clearing him, clean up any friends he summoned before moving carefully along the rest of the cliffs. Head to the Hot Spring if you need to heal. But after that, avoid the bats before getting to the next Shrine.

After nabbing the shrine, watch out for the Giant Skeleton in the next hall. On the ledge to your right, there’s a Dweller hiding behind boxes guarding a body with Antidote x3. Take them out before heading into the next hall with a Skeleton waiting to ambush you on the left. Kill it and grab the Salt x1 from a corpse along with the large chest holding a Fire Amulet and a Hyottoko Mask. However, don’t forget the incoming bats.

If you leap off the ledge, you’ll find a Skeleton Warrior. And before it, there’s a tunnel with a Yokai Fiend along with his buddy the Skeleton Warrior. They’ll try to gank you so take them on one by one before heading towards the ledge with a Minoden Dual Tachi and another corpse holding a Small Spirit Stone x1 and Antiparalytic Needle below.

After grabbing those, keep moving down the main path. Take out the Skeleton Archer before entering the large chamber. There’s a Fiend that will emerge with another Skeleton waiting at the corner. When you defeat them, there’s another Nurikabe Wall at the far side of the room. You’ll have two chances to try different gestures. Pray that they work or you’ll have to kill it to get to the other side. On the other side, there’s a body holding a Squire’s Jumonji Spear and Elixir x1. Further down, there’s another body with an Earth Amulet.

Well, this place wouldn’t be called the Ominous Cavern if it didn’t have yokai. Upon entering the Large Cave area, there’s a ladder on the left leading down a long ledge. However, watch out for the patrolling Wheelmonk and you won’t have much place to maneuver. But you can try using the falling attack to smash it down. Unfortunately, there’s not much room but you can hang on a ledge. That ledge will let you drop to the side of a rock where the body there holds a Vassal’s Armor: Kabuto. But don’t forget about the One-Eyed Oni and the Fiend below.

When you take the main path, it’ll also lead to a Wheelmonk ready to knock you off the upper ledge. Cling to the wall and dodge only when you know you can land. If you drop down to your left, there’s another ledge leading to another Wheelmonk hiding behind a Yokai Realm. But beating him, gets you access to another Shrine. No need to worry, just head down the ladders on the right. Back on the high ledge, there’s one last Fiend hiding up there. Check the body he looked over to find a Sacred Brush x1 and Platemail Armor Do. If you’ve got the nerves for it, carefully move to the far ledge to do the leap of faith onto the narrow lower platform. There, you’ll grab the Senjuin Uchigatana.

On the ground floor, there’s plenty of patrolling Fiends and hiding Skeletons. Head over to the back with the lurking One-Eyed Oni you saw below when entering the area. Kill it to grab the Himorogi BranchMoment TalismanDaion-jin’s Sake, and Shinobi Apparel Hakama.

Go deeper into the ground floor of the cave. There’s a large Yokai Realm on the left blocking the entrance to a tunnel where the One-Eyed Oni will emerge. Enter the tunnel to find two Skeleton Warriors guarding the area where a body holds a Hakujin Kusarigama.

Head deeper into the cave. There’s an ominous sound of a Biwa Boku-boku playing. Watch out for the grave sites as they spring to life. If you look to the left of the grave behind a large rock, there’s a culprit trying to hide. Take him down and look into a tunnel near him to spot the Kappa yokai hiding. Kill it for a ton of items. When you’re done with that, loot the corpse near him holding Arrows x2 and an Antiparalytic Needle.

Watch out for a really big threat at the end. There’s a Fiend waiting on the right path. A One-Eyed Oni strolling on the left side and both an One-Eyed Oni and Fiend are in the center. Don’t forget the bomb-throwing Dweller above. Plan this carefully because luring them away from one another is the best bet. Take out the Dweller with a snipe if you can. Head for the right to kill the fiend. Take out the One-Eyed Oni on the left. If the two in the center are moving, make sure they are out of sight from one another.

When you’re done, head towards the right path where the Dweller was to find another hiding. Kill it to grab the large chest holding a Mujina Mimic. Also, check all the bodies that were being guarded for Guard Armor Hizayoroi and Vassal’s Armor Kote.

When you’re done with that, head to the final tunnel to fight the boss. However, take note of the Kappa Yokai that will try to lead you through a tunnel. There are bats inside and watch out for that. However, cut off his escape route to finish him before he can do anything. After that, head to the bat-filled caves for some Arrows x2, a Spirit Stone x1, and an Antiparalytic Needle x1 which you’ll need for the boss.

Boss Fight: Hino-Enma

Well, remember this crazy lady? She gone more loco with more steroids. It won’t be as easy as it was. Her attack pattern however remains the same. But breaking her ki won’t be as easy and her HP is much longer.
