So apparently in the Missing Catalog mission, a secret scroll has been stolen from Mt. Hiei. Okatsu then orders Nioh’s favourite poster boy and gopher to go fetch the scroll. After all, it’s a secret scroll for a reason. There are some things the people aren’t meant to see in there. She says that even if it’s too late, to please investigate the location for the scroll.
Sub Mission – The Missing Catalog Walkthrough
It’s raining. You find yourself at the gateway of a temple with a golden shrine standing right in front of it. Head through the gateway before going down the stairs. Follow the pathway until you reach a lit up lantern. You’ll find a shed at the base of the hill. Break the boxes and no need to go inside the house with a ladder heading down.
But don’t head there first, leave the shed and instead take the ramp heading down. You’ll find two outlaws waiting for you in the darkness. Kill them both before following path up. Make a left and you’ll spot two outlaws sitting near a bonfire. Slaughter them both and follow the path down where they were sitting.
When you reach the end of the path, you’ll find a brightly lit compound with an archer and a swordsman. Lure the Swordsman away first and kill him. After finishing him off, you can sniper the archer to let you walk on your merry way. There’s another patrolling archer. You can either sneak past him or shoot him down to make life easier.
Approach the brightly lit compound with caution. There’s a corpse leaning against a large rock to your left with an outlaw lying in wait. Kill the outlaw lying in wait. However, once you alert him – he’ll bring in more friends. If you want to make things easier, use mid-stance or low stance while using Sword. It’ll allow you to fight in tight spaces while dealing damage to multiple opponents. Or if you have a Kayaku-dama/Horoku-dama, that’s okay also.
Cling onto the wall on your left until you reach an arch. There should be a samurai there. Kill that guy first before entering the shrine-like structure. From there, you can attract any other soldiers and lure them there to kill them.
When you’re done killing the patrolling guards, head towards the brightly lit building and kill the roaming guards.
Go down the ladder and you’ll find yourself at a forked road. On your left, there are two outlaws. For the right path, it leads towards the brightly lit temple below. Take the right path all the way down until you reach a lit up compound.
There are some roaming guards. Kill the two roaming guards one at a time before continuing on. There, you can pick up the corpse in the middle of the courtyard before dispatching the other roaming outlaw. However, there’s an archer hiding near the lamp. Lure the last one away before putting an arrow in the archer’s head or closing the distance between you and him.
After that, fall down the hole where the corpse is. There are two outlaws that you have to kill before the big boss spawns out. The big boss is a one-eyed oni with several Oni-bi accompanying him. Kill the Oni-bi and enchant your weapon to deal a load of damage onto the boss. When you kill him, you have completed the mission.
