Origins
Kiyohime is a young princess and daughter of the landlord named Shouji. She and her family owned a large land near the Hidaka Riverbank. As a Japanese young woman, she learned the ways of the Naginata. Nevertheless, she still retains demure appearance similar to that of a Yamato Nadeshiko. That being said, she barely showed any loud explosive emotions unless trifled with.
Kiyohime claims to be a frail maiden but can actually hold her own in battle. Her greatest asset is her ruthlessness in combat. Due to her mercilessness and relentlessness, she became peerless. Not only did men not want to hurt her due to her frail appearance, her angry outbursts made her terrifying.
The story goes when a traveling priest named Anchin fell in love with her. As her family was wealthy enough, they provided the priest lodging. However, the priest soon overcame his passions and desisted seeing her. Upon knowing this, she flew into a rage. She chased him to Hidaka River where her wrath transformed her into a serpentine dragon. She chased him all the way to the temple where Kiyohime melted the bell where the priest hid and killed him.
