Strategy

  • They appear as a pair. Known for having a powerful Noble PhantasmCarribean Free Bird, with potential to deal Critical Strength to boot.
  • Voyage raises C. Star generation which opens a window of opportunity for Quick Card based teams. Their NP is situational, however if you manage to perform it, it ultimately pays dividends if you manage to chain them while sustaining damage enough to reach a low HP count (about half).
  • Aim to maximize Combination to improve Attack further.
  • Compatible servants include Hassan of the Cursed Arm because of his high Quick Card draws in conjunction with high C. Star generation because he is blessed with Throw (Dagger) Skill.
  • Georgios who happens to share the same class also pairs decently due to his taunting role with Guardian Knight to draw enemy’s attacks. Their class also excels in C. Star absorption, which performs excellently in tandem with the pair’s Combination.
  • Jack the Ripper is a good combination with her. If Jack the Ripper runs a C. Star Drop build, she can harvest around 20+~30+ C. Stars which can boost Anne Bonny and Mary Read’s chances of inflicting Critical Hits.

Best Equipment

  • Imaginary Around is one of the recommended Craft Essences which promotes the effectiveness of Quick Cards. Place it to take advantage of NP damage increase and Critical strength as the latter stacks with their skill Marksmanship.
  • Gem Magecraft: Antumbra focuses on increases her terrifying Critical Strength which makes her excellent for boss killing. Considering that majority of the final bosses of the singularities are weak against Cavalry classes, Anne Bonny and Mary Read can tear off chunks with Gem Magecraft: Antumbra. Especially if, paired with a servant who can farm a lot of Critical Stars.

Origins

Anne Bonny and Mary Read were English pirates and were one of the most famous during their time. They were two of the three women who were accused of piracy in the golden age of piracy in the 18th Century. However, many historians were not sure of when Anne Bonny and Mary Read were born. The facts for Mary Read and Anne Bonny vary over different contexts.

However, the story for Mary Read seems consistent that she was born to a widow of a sea captain. But because Mary Read was born from an affair, her mother then disguised her as a male. She then continued to work as a male until she entered the British military. When Mary Read entered the military, she fell in love with a Flemish Soldier and married him.

Anne Bonny on the other hand is an Irish pirate woman who was the daughter of William Cormac. However, instead of retaining the name of her father, she instead retained the name of her husband – James Bonny. Upon marrying him, her father disowned her and she began her life as a pirate. Unfortunately, James Bonny then became an informant for the governor which led to the arrest of many of her pirate colleagues.

Eventually however, she found a lover in John “Calico John” Rackham who then became her lover. When James Bonny found out, he intended to have her whipped. While Rackham tried “divorce by purchase”, she refused to be sold like an animal. She instead escaped with John Rackham and married him there, divorcing her husband.

There, she finally met her partner, Mary Read who allegedly became her lover. And apparently, Rackham didn’t seem to mind. Mary Read also tried to masquerade as a male and believed that Anne Bonny too, was male. Much to her surprise, both of them were female. However, the two eventually became captured with both of them having different fates. Mary Read died of a violent fever whereas Anne Bonny had no trace as to whether she lived or dived.

In FGO, both Anne Bonny and Mary Read become a single servant under the Rider class.
