Origins

Tamamo no Mae is a figure in Japanese Mythology known as a miko shaman during the Heian Period.

She once served the retired Emperor Toba. People said she would appear in the disguised appearance of the nine-tailed fox named Hakumen Kinmou.

During her last days on earth, she was chased away from the imperial court, having killed numerous humans in an attempt to run away from them. Nobody knows what really happened in the end, but some accounts state that Tamamo no Mae either escaped the clutches of the imperial court or she was killed by them.

However, to some point, she did return to the human world. Because her magic has been exhausted, Tamamo no Mae walks around in a bathing suit.
