Origins
People know Tawara Touda as the founder of martial arts in the Kanto Provinces. During the Heian Period, he lived as a warrior under the name of Fujiwara Hidesato. When he defeated Taira Masakado, Tawara immediately gained fame. Some even said that he defeated a large centipede with just a bow and arrow.
The story goes when Tawara Touda once fought using the golden long sword used by his ancestor, Fujiwara Kamatari. However, the gods asked him to slay a large centipede that stayed in Mt. Mikami. Tawara agreed and took an arrow. He spat on it, knocked it, and fired the arrow. With that, he slew the centipede. From then on, people knew him for that one deed.
Thus, marks the epic tale of Tawara Touda.
