Nioh - The Two Kings: Nioh Sub Mission Walkthrough

This page contains a walkthrough on the Sub Mission The Two Kings: Nioh for Nioh on PS5 and PS4. Included are all items, weapons, armor, enemies and bosses encountered in the game.

Nioh and Nioh 2 (including all DLCs) are also bundled in the Nioh Collection on PS5.

The Sub Mission The Two Kings: Nioh is among the hardest Sub Missions in the game. It is a hellish fight against the Warrior of the East and The Warrior of the West — Honda Tadakatsu and Tachibana Muneshige — at the same time.

Anyone who’s every played Dark Souls has felt and understood the challenge of the notorious boss duo Ornstein and Smough. For Nioh’s version, this holds some truth. Think of Muneshige as Ornstein (agile, always in your face, buffs his weapon with lightning) and Tadakatsu as Smough (slower, dishes out more damage in single hits).

Naturally, since Muneshige is the more aggressive one, you should focus on dodging his advancing iai slashes, then punshing them while paying attention to whenever Tadakatsu is coming with striking distance of you. Also keep in mind that Tadakatsu can attack you from a distance by hurling rocks at you.

While pure melee builds will have a slightly harder time with the mission, those who invested in Onmyo magic can opt to make the fight easier by using Sloth Talismans to slow both enemies down. You can also try to use Moment Talismans to knock both of them to the ground in cases when they bunch together. A good strategy with the Guardian Spirit is to have the Atlas Bear Guardian talisman with instant Onmyo Casting. You can use the Guardian spirit to attack in the middle of your weapon combos to knock them down and choose who you will unleash your combo to.

A somewhat easy way to fight them is by separating them by fighting around the big rock at the left side of the map. This way, you can try to keep only one of the enemies capable of harming you at a time.

This fight takes some preparation, so you can try a bunch of options like bringing along Power Pills, using Carnage Talismans and even Spirit Stones to help once you’ve unleashed your Living Weapon.
