[Fate Grand Order/ FGO] Difference between Japanese & English Version

This article takes note of all differences between the Japanese and the English Version of Fate Grand Order [FGO]. Some of the differences may not be visible right away as the patch for the Japanese version is at ver. 1.25.0.

Difference between Japanese & English Version

The English version recently came out on June 25, 2017. However, many players noted the stark difference between the two games. Asides from the language, some of the game mechanics or stats have been changed.

AP Replenishment

According to players who played the Japanese version of Fate Grand Order [FGO], the AP replenishment spared no one. The ratio of replenishment in the US game is 5 minutes to 1 AP. However, the Japanese version had a 10 minute to 1 AP ratio which made the game more time-consuming.

Drop Rate

The item drop rates in the Japanese version are debatably higher than that of the English. This may have occurred as a means to balance out the low replenish rate of AP.  In the English one, the drop rates dropped but the replenish rate of the player’s AP increased.

Servant Selection

The Japanese FGO has more servants than that of the US. In the initial release, certain 3 star servants did not appear such as Fergus Mac Roich, Diarmuid Ua Duibhne, and other heroes. In the initial release, they featured majority of the 5 star servants such as Atruria (renamed as Altria Pendragon) and Atilla the Hun (renamed as Altera).

Nerfed Stats

Majority of the enemies have lowered health in the US game. In the Japanese game, enemies have higher HP but lower damage output. In the English version, enemies may suffer heavier damage but also deal heavier damage towards the player as well.

As of now however, it’s too early to tell what other differences the developers may make between the two games. But nonetheless, players are hoping for perhaps better drop rates especially for Ascension and Skill Reinforcement items.
