Origins
The Shinsengumi captain’s second-in-command, Hijikata Toshizou keeps discipline around the squad. Because of this, many of the members of the Shinsegumi fear him. No matter how talented and powerful they are, they know that Hijikata Toshizou can put them down. Even the most adept of swordsmen cower at the sight of him. After all, who wouldn’t be terrified of someone who classifies himself as an Oni?
Although Hijikata Toshizou is like a demon during combat, he separates himself from other Berserkers. Unlike most servants of the Berserker class, he keeps his sanity. Because of this, he is able to strategize and function as a field tactician. Despite the Veil of Madness and the Mad Enhancement, his ability to make logical decisions separates him from other Berserkers. But what classifies him as a Berserker is his ability to retain a single-track mind when in combat.
