Origins
Xuanzang is a Buddhist priest from the Tang dynasty. He is famously known as being one of the key characters in the Chinese novel called “Journey to the West”.
In the novel, it is said that Xuanzang originally existed in heaven as Jin Chanzi. As Jin Chanzi, he served as a disciple of Siddharta Gautama. She is the reincarnation of the said disciple who continued to follow the teachings of Buddha as well as teach them to the next generation. Because of this, Xuan Zang takes a lot of the teachings of Buddhism seriously. She relies on it often for fighting and daily life.
