Fate Grand Order Game Review

Fate Grand Order, or abbreviated into FGO, is a game that relies on the Gacha system while using the premise of the Fate Series of Type-Moon and Aniplex. As for the premise, the game begins with the protagonist as a low ranking magus. However, a sudden accident then forces the protagonist leaps through different time periods. In these time periods, the protagonist destroys singularities. These singularities are abnormalities in the time line which the protagonist must fix to save humanity.

What’s good about Fate Grand Order?

For those who are junkies for history and cultural bugs, this game would definitely be for you. Another is that this game appeals to the otaku culture which has a lot of heroes appearing to be waifu material. Fate Grand Order also gives a trip to history bugs who love the idea of mythology as heroes are pit against one another.

Another is the game’s fusion of different time lines which allow players to really appreciate certain heroes. It also allows people to see the different sides of heroes especially when their Alter-Egos appear.

Another is that this game is a turn-based game which both casuals and gamers can enjoy. It’s complex that one has to do game math to maximize the damage. It allows people to build servants into terrifying cannons like the Heracles-Verdant Sound of Destruction build or even create impregnable walls like the basic Mash-Tenacity build. For those who just love those big numbers smacking down on your enemy, this game will definitely indulge you.

Also, this game is a real treat to fans especially who have been waiting expectantly for Fate/Prototype or Fate/Apocrypha to finally make their debut!

What’s bad about Fate Grand Order?

So, in this Fate Grand Order Game Review, there are somethings I noticed. While some claim that the Random Number Generator (RNG) has been fixed, it seems that RNGesus seems as merciless as ever. The drop rates for summoning high class servants are quite low, forcing players to utilize low ranking characters. And to make those low ranking characters useful, the player must grind through a series of quests. In gamer-lingo, the game’s become a grindfest in which you have to expend AP just to grab EXP.

Even then, sometimes the EXP does not drop for you. Unlike most conventional games, the EXP for servants is farmed via drops. To make matters harder, the EXP gives a specific bonus only to a specific servant. One is only lucky if they get an EXP boost for all servant classes.

Thus, this game may not be for those short on patience.

Over-all Fate Grand Order Game Review

As a fan of the Fate Series, I really loved the thought of this game. The fact that I could play the game that involved my dream idea as a novelist. However, the main thing that bit me was the translation for some of the heroes. Arturia Pendragon becoming Altria kinda made it weird for me. Another is that the grind fest in this game is just insane. It takes a lot of tenacity to ascend a hero to a particular level.

Nonetheless, this game is something I’d play and spend time on. Now… back to recovering all my AP.
