Strategy
- Gilles de Rais’s skill Evil Eye of the Abyss can inflict Fear to all enemies which makes them immobile for 5 turns. Since Gilles de Rais has low Endurance, using this powerful skill is very effective if you want Gilles de Rais as well as your other servants to survive longer in a hard battle.
- Mash Kyrielight is a great partner for Gilles since combining Gilles de Rais’ buff and debuff skills with Mash’s defensive capabilities is very effective since Mash can buff Gilles’ weak Endurance.
- Bedivere is also good to pair up with Gilles because he has the skill Oath of the Protector which increases the party’s defense by 30% for 1 turn.
Best Equipment
- The 4-Star Craft Essence Primeval Curse can increase Gilles de Rais resistance to debuffs by 25%, making him harder to be inflicted with any status ailments.
- You can also equip Iron-Willed Training to increase Gilles’ defense by 15%. This craft essence alleviates his weakness which is his low defense.

Origins
Gilles De Rais, a military man and a noble, fought and defeated the army of New Orleans. He soon gazed his eyes upon Jeanne D’Arc, the woman who would then symbolize the existence of god. A lover of art, Gilles de Rais spent majority of his fortune on such art pieces. As a military man, he also had an honest and valorous personality which granted him the title Marshall.
However, his personality would soon take a turn after seeing Jeanne burn at the stake. His symbol of salvation in his depraved reality burned to ashes, leaving him nothing but a cynical view of the world. He soon turned to the dark arts and learned the ways of magic from Francoise Prelati.
When summoned in Saber form, he still retains his knightly demeanour. But it still doesn’t mask his sociopathic nature as a serial killer.
