Worried about Nero, Mash and the protagonist bring Romulus to ancient Septem to watch over the Roman Emperor. There, he stands watching Nero carry the weight of Rome on her shoulders. As people celebrate, he sees how Nero manages to stand on her own two feet. He admires her ability to stand before realizing that his presence is attracting the presence of the ancient emperors, driving them off in Nero’s name.
