Blackveil Vaal Hazak
Blackveil Vaal Hazak is a special variant of Vaal Hazak. Sporting thick clumps of spores on its body, it can unleash a more potent miasma than its regular species. When enraged, the monster can perform a massive explosion of toxic spores that severely weakens anything within range.

Strategy
Effluvia Resistance
It is highly recommended to have maximum effluvia resistance when facing Blackveil Vaal Hazak. Pieces of the regular Vaal Hazak armor are good options. Slotting miasma jewels in your equipment or using the miasma charm also lets you max out the skill.
Without effluvia resistance, you will need to stock up on as many nullberies as you can to cure miasma. Bring a full supply of max potions, nutrients, and mega nutrients as well. Getting your maximum health reduced guarantees the next hit you take to be fatal.
Defense
Visit the smithy to upgrade your armor’s defense. Blackveil Vaal Hazak is the first elder dragon subspecies you will encounter in the main story. The monster will hit significantly harder than anything you have faced thus far. Blackveil Vaal Hazak can take you out in one shot, even when your health is above 60 percent. Its spore explosion attack will also do massive damage if you are within range.
Slot in vitality, defense, or protection jewels to reduce incoming damage. Eat a fish platter as well before heading out.
Having the vitality and temporal mantles also increase survivability, allowing you to live through most of its attacks. This includes its spore explosion move.
Attack its Flank
As with its regular variant, Blackveil Vaal Hazak’s flank is a relatively safe spot to attack. Most of its moves can be avoided by paying attention to its movement as you attack. Run to the side if you see the monster step back, as it will perform its miasma beam. Get away immediately when it stands on its hind legs to avoid its miasma blast.
Blackveil Vaal Hazak will occasionally perform a frontal sweep if you stand too long at its side. Reposition yourself after figuring out how many strikes you can land before it retaliates.
Fight in the Open
Because of Blackveil Vaal Hazak’s large size, it is very easy to get clipped if it manages to chase you into a tight space. Always get out of the corner before getting back on the offensive. You can also use a farcaster to immediately return to camp in such emergencies.
