Strategy

Preparation

Before heading out, stock up on some barrel bombs and large barrel bombs. These will be useful in destroying Radobaan’s tough bone armor that make most melee weapons bounce off. Bring some fire herbs and large barrels to make more if you run out.

Radobaan

Radobaan uses a variety of different charging and rolling attacks in battle. When you see it curl up, get away and run sideways to avoid getting hit. You can also guard its attacks with weapons such as the great sword, lance, and gunlance.

Radobaan Monster Guide

Use barrel bombs and large barrel bombs to break Radobaan’s bone armor. This prevents your weapon from bouncing off when attacking.

You can knock down Radobaan by attacking it’s legs. Dual blades are a good choice for this, owing to their high damage-per-second. Pull back when Radobaan gets up as it will likely retaliate with a rolling attack.

Rotten Vale has many ledges that you can climb up to, allowing you to frequently do jumping attacks. Successfully landing one lets you mount the monster to knock it down again.

Pursuing Great Girros

Once you have dealt with Radobaan, start looking for Great Girros. It can usually be found alongside lesser Girros in areas 6, 7, and 8. Note that you only need to spot Great Girros for the base’s research to complete the quest. If you decide to hunt it, head back to camp first and restock on healing items.
