Lavasioth Monster Guide

Lavasioth is a fish-like wyvern that swims effortlessly through molten lava, covering its scales with it. The scales eventually harden after Lavasioth surfaces and repel most melee weapons when struck. It can shoot a large ball of lava at foes during battle.

Strategy

Fire Resistance

Wear armor with good fire resistance to minimize damage from Lavasioth’s elemental attacks. Some good options include the high rank Anja, Rathalos, and Rathian armor sets.

When afflicted with fireblight, use Nullberries. You can also obtain them from gathering points all around Elder’s Recess.

Stay Mobile

You can avoid most of Lavasioth’s attacks by constantly moving while fighting. This makes weapons such as the sword and shield, dual blades, and insect glaive very effective against Lavasioth.

Observe its Body

Lavasioth’s body changes depending on its current state. When the scales glow with lava, you can normally attack its body. Over time, its scales will harden and turn black. This causes melee weapons to bounce off when struck. Wait for Lavasioth to swim in lava again or use torch pods to soften its scales.

Avoid its Lava Ball Attack

Lavasioth’s strongest move is when it shoots a massive ball of lava from its mouth. While the attack does heavy damage, it has a significantly long wind-up time. Watch out when Lavasioth tilts its head back to perform the move. Simply sprint or dodge to its side to avoid it.
