Preparation

Stack as much physical defense as you can when going up against Brachydios. Make sure to visit the smithy to upgrade your armor. You can also eat a fish platter to further increase defense before heading out. Max out your supply of healing items as well.

You will be sprinting and dodging a lot during the fight. Bring some dash juice to help manage your stamina. Skills like marathon runner and constitution also let you stay mobile for longer periods.

Evade extender is useful for avoiding Brachydios’ wide swipes, including its leaping ground punch. Try to get familiar with the range of its moves so that you can rely on the skill less and instead focus on offensive skills.

Bringing the vitality and temporal mantles gives you a safety net in case Brachydios lands a hit at awkward angles.

Brachydios

Expect a long and drawn out battle when facing Brachydios for the first time. Even when not enraged, Brachydios gives you very few opportunities to land a hit. Limit yourself to draw attacks when using slow weapons like the great sword, hammer, or switch axe.

Brachydios Monster Guide

Roll on the ground five times when Brachydios coats you with slime. The monster’s attacks without slime do massive damage and greater still with explosions.

Be on guard at all times. Brachydios can quickly close the gap by doing a leaping ground punch. The move allows Brachydios to cover a good distance from where it launches itself. Take cover behind rocks or walls when you need to stop and sharpen your weapon.

Always keep an eye on your stamina throughout the fight. It is easy to overlook its status, especially when running away from an enraged Brachydios.
