Activating the effluvia resistance skill using pieces of the Vaal Hazak armor makes the fight significantly easier. You can also use miasma jewels and the miasma charm to completely nullify effluvia buildup.

Have a full supply of nullberries in your loadout if you choose not to invest in the skill. Bring as many healing items as you can well.

Make sure to max out your armor’s defense to be able to live through Blackveil Vaal Hazak’s attacks. You can further increase survivability by slotting vitality, defense, and protection jewels into your equipment. Using the vitality and temporal mantles also lets you survive fatal blows.

Most of Blackveil Vaal Hazak’s attacks can be avoided by strafing. Observe the monster’s movement as you get in hits, especially when it stands on its hind legs. This is the tell for its miasma blast. The attack covers quite a large radius, so get away from it as fast possible.

Reposition yourself whenever Blackveil Vaal Hazak faces you. When it steps back, flank it to avoid its miasma beam. Do not loiter too long there either. The monster can perform a frontal sweep that can clip you from the side.
