Strategy

Ice Resistance

Having good ice resistance is very helpful against Legiana. There are, however, very few options to choose from when you first encounter it during the main story. The Lumu and Kulu sets give decent amounts of ice defense. If you do not have the materials to craft them, just make sure that the armor you go with does not have negative values for ice resistance.

Don’t Stand in Front of It

You can avoid most of Legiana’s attacks by constantly strafing to its side. Stay mobile when fighting it at all times, especially when it is enraged.

Use Flashpods

As with most flying wyverns, flashpods are extremely effective at forcing Legiana to the ground. You can get in a few hits as it struggles to get up. It is recommended, however, to use flashpods sparingly as Legiana will eventually become immune to them.

Use Shock Traps

You can stop Legiana in its tracks for a good amount of time with shock traps. Note that Legiana will develop resistance to them with continued use, as with flashpods.

Bring Nullberies

Legiana’s ice attacks inflict iceblight. This causes your stamina to deplete five times the normal rate when sprinting and twice as fast when dodging. Use Nullberies to cure yourself.

Spinning Ice Blast

When enraged, Legiana will perform a spinning ice blast that covers a wide area in front of it. The move does massive damage and inflicts iceblight. Legiana will wind up the attack by stretching its wings, causing ice to gather to it. It will then perform a spin that hurls a blast of ice forward. You can avoid the attack by standing very close to Legiana, preferably near its legs. You can also dodge toward it to get behind it.

Cut off Legiana’s Tail

Severing Legiana’s tail reduces the range of its tail whip attack. You can also carve rare materials from it by cutting it off.
