Preparation

Wear armor with high fire resistance to reduce damage from Glavenus’ elemental attacks. You can raise fire defense further by slotting fire resistance gems and using the fireproof mantle.

Stock up on healing items, including max potions, before the fight. Glavenus’ sword tail combos can take you out in a few hits. The vitality and temporal mantles provide a nice safety net for avoiding a fatal blow.

Bring nullberies to recover from fireblight. Without them, you will have to roll on the ground three times to remove the ailment.

Shocktraps are good for giving you a brief period to press the attack against Glavenus. Be careful of using them too much if you intend to capture it. The monster will gain resistance to the traps with constant use.

Glavenus

Taking down Glavenus requires patience as it can chain attacks with its sword tail. Dual blades, the sword and shield, and other fast-hitting weapons are perfect for staying mobile while getting in a few hits. Limit yourself to draw attacks with weapons like the great sword, hammer, and switch axe. Once you familiarize yourself with Glavenus attack patterns, you can try to go for riskier openings.

Glavenus Monster Guide

Immobilizing Glavenus allows you to whittle down its health without fear of a counterattack. Bring some shocktraps to lock it in place and unload on it before it breaks free.

Use the environment to help you deal with Glavenus. There are paratoads and flashflies in areas 4 and 13 that you can use to your advantage.

Pull back when Glavenus is enraged. There will be very few opportunities to safely attack it in this state. Wait until it calms down before going on the offensive.
