Strategy
Preparation
Stock up on antidotes and astera jerky to cure yourself of poison and bleeding. It is also a good idea to bring as many healing items as you can when up against the extremely aggressive Nargacuga.
Weapons that can inflict sleep are effective. Some good options are the final upgrades for the Kulu-Ya-Ku and Radobaan weapons. You can also bring shocktraps to immobilize Nargacuga and quickly burst down its health.
Nargacuga
Always keep Nargacuga within view so that you are able to anticipate its next attack. It will dart in and out of your field of vision by frequently doing its wing blade strikes. Dodge and attack it from its sides or from behind.
Fast weapons like the dual blades or sword and shield allow you to safely engage Nargcuga. They also make it easier to pull back whenever you hear rattling sounds, signaling the monster winding up its tail slam move. Slower weapons like the great sword, hammer, and switch axe are more risky to use because of their long recovery times. Settle for draw attacks first when learning Narcaguga’s behavior in combat.
Nargacuga’s needle projectiles can be avoided by running to the side. Do not step on them to avoid getting inflicted with bleeding as they will linger on the ground for a while.
