Monsters Hunter World: Iceborne Game Screen Guide
A guide on the game screen display in Monster Hunter World Iceborne. This includes details about the player’s combat status, the quest member’s combat status, and status ailments.

Game Screen Display Breakdown
Legend | Display Name | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Time Limit | Represents the time limit for the current quest. TThe quest will fail when the blue hand reaches the red hand. |
2 | Day/Night Display | Indicates the period of the day. The sun icon represents daytime while the moon icon represents nighttime. |
3 | Character Name | Shows the character’s in-game name. |
4 | Health | Shows the character’s health gauge which is usually minimized. It will expand automatically during combat. |
5 | Stamina | Shows the character’s stamina gauge. Same with the Health gauge, it will either be minimized or expand depending on the status of the character.
A character’s stamina will decrease when dashing or performing special attacks. However, it refills over time and the stamina gauge’s max value can also be boosted when eating well-done steaks or similar items. |
6 | Close-range Weapon Status | Shows the weapon’s current sharpness. The contents differ per weapon used. |
7 | Specialized Tool Status | Presents the current cooldowns for specialized tools. It also lets the character know when they are ready to be used again after the cross mark has disappeared. |
8 | Quest Members | Shows the names of the quest members including their health gauges. |
9 | Controls | Displays the current controls available for the character. |
10 | Ranged Weapon Status | Shows the current ammo type and the remaining ammo. |
11 | Item Bar | Displays the item currently selected by the character. Items can be changed by holding the L1 button and pressing the □ or ○ buttons |
12 | Minimap | Shows the area around the character and the direction he/she is facing. Icons like monsters and gathering points will also show up on the minimap. |
Status
1) Combat Status
Minimap | Combat Status | Description |
---|---|---|
Spotted by Monster | A white eye-shaped icon will show the monster in view on the minimap. If the character stayed for a set amount of time, the monster will engage the character in battle. | |
In Combat with Monster | A yellow eye icon will show that the monster is being engaged in battle. | |
Hidden from Monster | A question mark will display showing that the monster has lost sight of the character. | |
Targeted by Monster | The red eye-shaped icon will show that the monster is focusing its attacks on the character. |
2) Quest Member Combat Status and Status Ailments
Quest Member Display | Combat Status | Description |
---|---|---|
In Combat with Monster | In addition, the yellow eye-shaped icon shows which quest member is currently engaged with a monster (see Hunter 2). | |
Discovered by Monster | The eye-shaped icon also indicates that the monster already spotted the quest member. | |
Targeted by Monster | A red eye-shaped icon indicates which quest member is being targeted by the monster. | |
Quest Member is Afflicted | If a fellow quest member has a purple health gauge and two red dots beside his/her name, it means that he/she is afflicted with an abnormal status effect. | |
Character is Afflicted | If the character is afflicted with abnormal status, he/she also has a purple health gauge and two red dots beside his/her name. |
