Strategy
Preparation
You will be up against a high rank version of Pukei-Pukei that can dish out more damage than its regular species while also possessing more health. As with previous encounters, bring antidotes to cure yourself of poison. Maxing out your supply of healing items will also help.
Pukei-Pukei
High rank Pukei-Pukei has the same attacks and behavior as the normal version. Strafe the monster to avoid most of its attacks, including its poison ball projectiles and double tongue whip. Attack it from the side and move when it faces you.
Wildspire Waste’s terrain has many elevated areas convenient for doing jumping attacks. You can unload on Pukei-Pukei after mounting and knocking it down.
Intruders
Barroth and Rathian are likely to interfere with your hunt. You can take advantage of turf wars to whittle down Pukei-Pukei’s health while it is distracted. Wide areas are the most ideal for this, allowing you to easily reposition yourself to avoid getting clipped during the scrap.
