Latest Trailer Reveals Rajang

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne comes out this week on September 6th, 2019. With the anticipated launch drawing ever closer, Capcom revealed yet another iconic monster to make its return in the expansion. This time, it is the hulking fanged wyvern Rajang. It will be available as a free update for Iceborne in October.

Introduced in Monster Hunter Freedom 2, Rajang is a massive ape-like monster with an extremely violent nature.  Its head sports two massive horns that protrude sideways, while its body is covered in dark brown fur. Rajang’s well-developed arms allow it to relentlessly pound and smash enemies in battle.

When enraged, the fur on Rajang’s head and back stand up and turns bright gold. It will gain enhanced speed, power, and the ability to perform a variety of lightning attacks. Among its most powerful moves is the ability to shoot a gigantic beam of electricity from its mouth.

Its appearance while enraged has lead fans to compare enraged Rajang’s appearance and behavior to Son Goku, the main character from the popular anime Dragon Ball. Rajang is often said to go “super saiyan” when angered, an empowered state of Goku. The monster’s electric beam, meanwhile, has been likened to Goku’s “kamehameha” ki blast. Rajang’s appearance itself is also likely a reference to Goku’s ability to transform into a large destructive primate.

Monsters previously revealed to make their return in the upcoming expansion are Nargacuga, Tigrex, Barioth, Brachydios, and Zinogre. This makes Rajang the sixth confirmed in Iceborne.
