Zinogre Confirmed in Iceborne

The much-awaited release of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne draws near, launching worldwide on September 6th, 2019. With just a little over a week before it comes out, Capcom revealed yet another monster to join the already impressive roster. The game’s latest trailer features the thunder wolf wyvern Zinogre.

Zinogre has been a fan-favorite of the series since its debut in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. It resembles a giant wolf with metallic blue scales. Most of its upper body is lined with white fur and gold spikes. Zinogre is capable of charging itself with electricity by drawing thunderbugs to it. This allows the wyvern to imbue its attacks with lightning and enhance its speed. It can also shoot out orbs of electricity and call forth lightning to strike foes from afar.

In the trailer, the fanged wyvern was seen wandering in the Ancient Forest before attacking the hunter. This is likely a throwback to its first appearance in the franchise, with Zinogre commonly dwelling in forests.

Zinogre is the fifth monster to return from past games in the upcoming expansion. Others revealed in previous trailers are Nargacuga, Tigrex, Barioth, and Brachydios.
