What is Wyvern Riding?

Monster Hunter Rise - Wyvern Riding Guide

Wyvern Riding is a new feature in Monster Hunter Rise that allows you to mount and take control of large monsters in battle. You can only ride monsters after rendering them into a “mountable state” which is done through a number of different methods.

New Features

Controlling a Wyvern allows you to perform many of their unique attacks, including some of their signature moves. This allows you to deal massive damage against other monsters, especially if they are weak against your mounted monster’s elemental attacks.

Performing certain elemental moves while mounted also allows you to inflict different types of elemental blights that can give you the advantage against monsters in battle.

How to Mount Monsters for Wyvern Riding

Monster Hunter Rise - Wyvern Riding Guide

Monsters must first be rendered into a mountable state before they can be ridden. There are numerous ways to do this which are described below.

If successful, a monster will fall down and display the “Ride Wyvern” icon, allowing you to mount it for Wyvern Riding.

Damage monsters using Wirebug jumping and Silkbind attacks.

Performing enough Wirebug jumping and Silkbind attacks will force a monster into its mountable state. This is the most straightforward way of going for Wyvern Riding. It makes heavy use of Wirebug charges so be sure to watch the gauge at all times.

Monsters can also become mountable after they have suffered enough damage in combat against other monsters. Try to get in a few Wirebug attacks on the monster you wish to ride while it is busy fighting another one to get it into Wyvern Riding state faster.

Use endemic life.

You can also use various types of critters (endemic life) to force monsters to become mountable. Always keep an eye on your surroundings and try as many options as you can when you want to ride a wyvern.
