New Monsters Revealed in State of Play 2019

Capcom unveiled their new expansion for Monster Hunter World. They added depth to the game by introducing a snow-themed region, Hoarfrost Reach, to its already vast world. The first set of monsters were showcased during Capcom’s segment of the State of Play 2019. Brand new creatures, a new variant, and a returning monster join the fray.

Banbaro

A brute that has features of both reptiles and bison. It is capable of charging at victims by thrusting its enormous horns. Sometimes its antlers can pick up debris lying in its path, which allows it to fling objects like fallen trunks at its prey.

Beotodus

The cousin of the aquatic Jyuratodus, Beotodus burrows under the thick snow and emerges to snap at its prey. Its appearance suggests that it could be inspired by the prehistoric kronosaurus and the modern shark.

Nargacuga

A wyvern that glides in the air. Nargacuga exhibits the traits of both reptiles and ferals. They inhabit the Ancient Forest. They can be difficult to spot as they are often perched on top of towering trees.

Velkhana

An elder dragon that can turn everything in its path to ice. Legend has it that it can produce ice cold air at will.

New Monsters Revealed on E3 2019

Another set of monsters were teased during Capcom’s Monster Hunter World: Iceborne trailer on their E3 2019 Live Stage. Hunters once again face a returning monster, the ferocious Tigrex, a fan favorite among veteran hunters. Capcom also featured the Shrieking Legiana, a variant of the wind drifting wyvern.

Tigrex

Similar to Nargacuga, Tigrex is also a wyvern capable of flight. It has a gaping maw that resembles that of a tyrannosaurus and has an ear-splitting screech. Despite its crude stature, it can charge mercilessly due to its powerful legs. If it does not sense any threat, Tigrex assumes a bipedal stance. However, once it turns hostile, it will begin to charge on all fours at its prey.

Shrieking Legiana

An arctic variant of Legiana whose body is covered in frost. Unlike Legiana, it has a chilling aura and tends to use ice-based attacks. Shrieking Legiana covers its prey with an icy breath to slow it down before swooping in for an attack.
