Battle Strategy

The Elder Wyrm can be found in the Golmore Jungle in the Dell of the Dream. You’ll face it with two treants. The Wyrm uses sporefall, barraging you with random status effects. It also casts fireball.

Take out the two treants first. It’s best to use physical attacks or Countdown and Warp. Make sure that you have Esuna, remedies, and handkerchiefs. Make sure that you have a good amount of Remedy Lore for most of your party. Equip Jade Collars and Main Gauche to parry the Elder Wyrm’s other attacks. Use quickenings to damage the boss. Use Demonsbane, Betelgeuse, and Flametongue for sword-wielding characters. To lessen the effects of sporefall, have your tank lead the Elder Wyrm in the opposite direction. The Elder Wyrm will only hit the tank if they’re in front. Another way to dodge sporefall is to run as far away as possible.

Inflict Sleep and cast Aero. Buff your party up with Faith, Haste, Shell, and Reflect. Characters should have Nihopaloa and Cherry Staves, provided they can use them. Use the gambit “Ally: any – Aero”. Turn them off first. Make sure Larsa is knocked out before battle as to not ruin your plan. The character with Nihopaloa should throw a Remedy to devastate the Elder Wyrm with status effects. The characters with aero should continually barrage Elder Wyrm. Use Quickenings to deal more damage. Repeat until Elder Wyrm is dead.
