In order to gain entry to the Way Stone that leads to the Great Crystal, one must first defeat the Tyrant.
Similar to Daedalus, the Tyrant serves as a guardian beast of Giruvegan. This particular beast is weak to ice attacks and is susceptible to Confuse. Unlike the other low HP bosses, the Tyrant does not have any augments to increase its battle survivability.
Before battling the Tyrant, equip the Trident or Icebrand. Due to its weakness against ice, any weapon with increased ice affinity will be useful. This particular boss tends to focus on one target at a time, making it easier to lead. Technicks do not work against this boss, so the Technick Steal will not have any effect. Due to the cancelling of the Charge Technick, you will be required to kite the enemy in order to replenish depleted MP.
Other pieces of equipment, like the Bubble Belt can prove useful in this battle. If there is MP to spare, one can also resort to summoning Mateus. However, it is more advisable to save your MP for healing and buffs. Another trick is the Nihopalaoa + Smelling Salts trick. Once weakened, focus down the Tyrant using ice spells like Blizzard and Blizzaga to deal more damage.
