Mateus, the Corrupt represents the zodiac sign Pisces. In order to find Mateus, head to Stilshrine of Miriam. There, you’ll spot the crystal guarding the Sword of the Kings left behind by King Raithwall. He is second among the five Espers obtained in the story. Despite his female appearance, Mateus is androgynous. The blue shield he wields is his female side, but, over-all, he is considered male.
Battle Strategy
Mateus battles alongside five Azers. Defeat the Azers before focusing all of your physical attacks on the Esper. If you want extra damage, have someone equip the Storm Spear or the Storm Staff. You can also use thunder magic or items, as he takes double damage from thunder. However, watch out for his Blizzaja attacks, as they can deal devastating damage. Accompanying Blizzaja, Mateus also casts Sap, which drains your allies’ HP. Once you see him casting it, heal all your party members while casting Shell.
