Arena of Valor Ilumia

Item Builds List

Core Items

These items are necessary in order to play Illumia optimally. Only diverge from a core item if you are a very experienced player or you have a very good reason for doing so

Arena of Valor Orb of the MagiOrb of the Magi Great on practically any mage, Ilumia will need Orb of the Magi to bolster her abilities and defenses. It is a great tool for staying in the lane in the early game since the refresh it provides each level allows Ilumia to cast her spells without worry about running completely out of mana.
Arena of Valor Frostys RevengeFrosty’s Revenge Since Ilumia helps her team with both crowd control and damage, the added slow from Frosty’s Revenge can make her a much larger asset during fights. The movement speed it provides is a huge help to the slow Ilumia as well, helping her traverse the battlefield.

Optional Items

Offensive Item Choices

Arena of Valor BoomstickBoomstick Boomstick synergizes well with Divine Light’s on-hit explosion. The item’s added explosion will make each shot much stronger and much harder to dodge.
Arena of Valor Hecate's DiademHecate’s Diadem Hecate’s Diadem is the best way to pump up one’s ability power. Grabbing this will allow Ilumia to destroy her opponents with her spells, the added damage going a long way in swinging team fights to her favor.
Arena of Valor Holy of HoliesHoly of Holies Who better to hold a holy book than a goddess? Holy of Holies is a massive source of both ability power and HP. Both of these stats are incredibly valuable to Ilumia, her damage directly tied to the amount of ability power she has and she needing quite a bit of health to stay alive in fights. Mages are generally rather squishy foes, so a bit of additional defense is always welcome.
Arena of Valor Beriths AgonyBerith’s Agony Berith’s Agony is best suited to mages who can cast their spells in rapid succession. Ilumia’s low cooldowns make her a great candidate for the item, the physical defense it offers additionally useful for deterring marksmen and warriors.
Arena of Valor Staff of NuulStaff of Nuul Whenever the enemies are building up magic defense, Staff of Nuul is a good way to counter their efforts. The flat magic penetration will allow Ilumia’s divine influence to pierce through the most rugged of exteriors to shine upon the squishy souls hidden inside.

Boots Upgrade

Arena of Valor Flashy BootsFlashy Boots Ilumia benefits a lot from low cooldowns, her passive directly tied to how often she can cast her spells. Flashy Boots will help her cast as many spells as possible and thereby allow her to empower her Divine Light more frequently.
Arena of Valor Hermes SelectHermes’ Select One of Ilumia’s greatest flaws is her mobility. Hermes’ Select tries to remedy this by speeding her up when outside of combat. The goddess will have a much easier time reach battles before they have finished with these on her feet.

Active Items

Arena of Valor Berith's Agony
Arctic Orb
Illumia benefits a lot from Arctic Orb. She is a very squishy hero that can easily be killed by assassin heroes and such. Having Arctic Orb ensures that she lives until her teammates arrive to help her, or even disrupt the combo of the enemy.

Sample Item Builds

This build pumps up Ilumia’s ability power in order to empower her abilities as much as possible. A few compromises were made in the name of utility, Frosty’s Revenge the main culprit in this regard. The slow it offers along with the movement speed it offers is a great way to trap opponents in team fights, however. The normal combo of Hecate’s Diadem and Holy of Holies are present, they and Boomstick granting her large amounts of raw ability power. Holy of Holies and Orb of the Magi will keep Ilumia from becoming too much of a glass cannon with their large health bonuses.

This build gives up some attack strength in the name of toughening up Ilumia’s defenses. She can offer a lot to the team through the crowd control of her abilities, so staying alive to constantly pelt the enemy team with spells can at times be more useful than slower, high powered spells. The Aegis offers a lot of defense and mana along with a huge 20% cooldown reduction, making Ilumia much stronger to physical attacks. All of her ability power items offer some sort of defensive bonus along with their damage boosts. These range from armor, magic defense, or large health boosts. Ilumia will deceptively be quite tanky with this build, able to stand with her team even when things go sideways.

Here we focus on Ilumia casting her sells as frequently as possible. This will keep the enemy team damaged and disabled during fights. This will, in turn make them easier targets for your allies to hit even if your damage isn’t enough to finish them off. If mana use becomes a problem, replace an item with virtue’s necklace.

  1. The ultimate cooldown reduction and endless harass build!!
    Orb of magi- hp+mana+cdr
    Hermes boots- good movement speed
    Virtue’s necklace- mana+magic pierce+cdr
    Berith’s agony- armour+cdr
    Rhea’s blessing-magic shield+cdr
    Staff of nuul-magic pierce

Buy pedant of faith at the start of game and buy boots next and then follow the build.

  2. My 1st-skill boost Illumia build :

    Rush Orb of Magi
    Next Flashy Boots
    Then rush Virtue Necklace
    Then rush Staff of Nuul
Then go Holy of Hollies (if there’s only 1 tanky ally) or Hecate’s Diadem (if 2 or more tanky allies)

  3. I have a doubt that will equipping frosty revenge slows enemy movement speed by 70% while using her second ability or not

    • Retested to verify: It does, in fact, lower the target’s movement speed down to 70% for the 1 second that Banish’s slow is active.

  4. Why is there many different builds? For the sg recommended item builds, they are different to the ones that is in strategy builds and the strategy builds is also different from the hero item builds. Which is the main build that I should follow up for this hero? Same goes for veera and many other heroes. They have different builds and i am unsure of which build i should stick to.

    • Actually, the builds should depend on the situation of the game and your play style. For example, I want to frequently use her skills so I focus on the items that reduce her cooldown speed (because her skills are really helpful for the team fight and sometimes you can easily help your team win the fight even you’re not there by using her ultimate.) and I also want to survive from the fight so I usually have at least one item that can protect her. So my builds are:

      1. ‘Flashy Boots’ > ‘Orb of the Magi’ > ‘Bereth Agony’ > ‘Arctic Orb’ > ‘Hecate’s Diadem’ > ‘Staff of Nuul’.

      2. ‘Phoenix Tear’ > ‘Flashy Boots’ > ‘Bereth Agony’ > ‘Rhea’s Blessing’ > ‘Hecate’s Diadem’ > ‘Holy of Holies’ / ‘Soul Scroll’ / ‘Staff of Nuul’.

If the match is taking too long I replace ‘Phoenix Tear’ OR ‘Orb of the Magi’ with ‘Boomstick’ / ‘Holy of Holies’ / ‘Soul Scroll’.

And here is the build that is usually used by the players (included PRO PLAYERS) on my Thailand server…
      3. ‘Orb of the Magi’ > ‘Gilded Greaves’ / ‘Enchanted Kicks’ > ‘Boomstick’ > ‘Hecate’s Diadem’ > ‘Staff of Nuul’ > ‘Holy of Holies’ / ‘Soul Scroll’

*btw, if my poor English (grammar) confuses you, I’m really sorry for that.*
