1: Explosions hit enemies roughly 200 units away. There is no explosion indicator, just the damage number that appears.

Boomstick is a magic item that significantly empowers its wielder’s ability power damage. It gives a large amount of ability power and its passive, Explosion, deals additional damage when abilities strike. This greatly increases the mage’s burst damage, making them extremely dangerous for squishy heroes.
Recommended Heroes and/or Situation:
Boomstick is a good item for burst mages like Veera or Preyta. Similar to Hecate’s Diadem, Boomstick’s effectiveness increases with more ability power, so make sure you build offensively when choosing Boomstick so that you make full use of its passive.

Upon testing I found that Ilumia’s ult triggers Boomstick passive each time it hits an enemy heroes. Haven’t tested if the enemies group together.
Thank you for this. We will try to investigate, however the nature of this set up will make it a bit difficult to properly observe.
Question:
The explosion effect exist on per hit or per skill basis?
For example:
Skill 3 of Veera / skill 2 of Ignis / skill 1 of Kahlii is multi-hit.
While Skill 2 of Raz / skill 1+2 of Diao Chan is single hit.
So now, does the explosion occur on every bats on Veera’s ultimate??
The explosion effect of boomstick will only trigger once per target per ability cast, so it will not explode multiple times on the same target.
