Mina Item Builds
Core Items
These items are necessary in order to play Mina optimally. Only diverge from a core item if you are a very experienced player or you have a very good reason for doing so.
Mantle of Ra is a good first item for Mina, providing a mix of offensive and defensive stats. She will also get a lot of use out of its burning aura, naturally close to her targets after pulling them close and trapping them with a taunt. | |
Mail of Pain is arguably a perfect fit for Mina. It returns a portion of the enemy’s damage back to them when they attack. This will come up a lot for Mina as she taunts groups of enemies into attacking her. |
Optional Items
Gaia’s Standard grants Mina magic defense, max HP, and movement speed, all of which very useful stats for a tank. Its passive will additionally keep her up in fights or help her regenerate between them. With the amount of defensive stats that she will be sporting, it is very possible for the item to allow her to net some health when harassed or attacked by a minion or monster. | |
Frost Cape is very useful for sticking to enemies, something that Mina can occasionally struggle with. Given the rather low cooldown of Whirling Scythe, she will be able to take advantage of Frost Cape’s passive very regularly. | |
Another excellent magic defense item, Medallion of Troy offers much more in terms of magic defense. In addition to its impressive stats, the item grants a regular shield that will absorb enemy magic damage. | |
One of the ultimates when it comes to defensive items, Amulet of Longevity both provides an immense amount of health while also increasing the healing the wearer receives. Should your armor or magic resist bases be covered, Amulet of Longevity is a great way to increase your overall survivability. | |
More aggressive than other items on the list, Hercules Madness can easily help Mina flip a fight to her favor. It gives a shield at low health which can catch attackers off guard while also boosting the wearer’s offensive stats. While not a damage dealer, regular use of Whirling Scythe can do a lot to whittle down enemies for her enemies, so Mina should not scoff at chances to increase her attack damage. |
Boots Options
A very common boots choice, Mina can heavily benefit from Gilded Greaves. She lacks any sort of mobility ability and therefore can have trouble moving around the battlefield. This is especially true when trying to navigate enemy control abilities, so Gilded Greaves can give her a bit more freedom of movement and allow for more proper positioning. | |
As mentioned above, Mina struggles when it comes to mobility. Hermes’ Select helps her overcome this burden, at least when it comes to moving between lanes. With the potential to be a rather formidable roamer, Mina can use Hermes’ Select to quickly move to another lane to set up a gank for her allies. | |
A natural choice when the enemy team is high up on physical damage dealers. These are particularly effective against marksman or normal attack focused warriors due to the normal attack damage reduction that they provide. |
Sample Item Builds
A rather straightforward tanking build, here we build up Mina as a damage sponge for the team. Mantle of Ra and Mail of Pain will punish those trapped in her taunt with continual damage while also hardening Mina’s defenses. Frost Cape will help her stick to enemies when Death Scythe and Dark Dominion aren’t enough on their own. Gaia’s Standard and Medallion of Troy finish off the build, simply providing large amounts of survivability to the tank.
Hermes’ Select | Mantle of Ra | Mail of Pain | Gaia’s Standard | Frost Cape | Hyoga’s Edge |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Rather than focusing solely on damage, this build strengthens Mina’s considerable ganking potential. Death Scythe and Dark Dominion are great setups for fights and can very easily catch enemies off guard. Both Frost Cape and Hyoga’s Edge are present here, giving Mina’s normal attacks the potential to massively slow targets. Gaia’s Standard, Herme’s Select, and Hyoga’s Edge together will make her rather speed and thereby even harder to escape from. Despite the step taken away from survivability, every item here enhances Mina’s defense in some way, so she will still be able to take quite a bit of punishment for her team.

Does anyone know if her passive triggers armor reduction from Spear of Longinus?
My build for this hero is pretty standard, actually, I got it from tje recomended builds inside the game.
First, I take support item (just the wind gem) to farm some gold if i get behind in the early game and then i finish gilded greaves or sonic boots (more usually the first one) depending on the match up. Note that I always start with its second abillity, always doing focus in the enemy adc or marksman. However, i always level up its first abillity.
Then i finish essence of the wind.
Follow by knight’s plate. Just improve it to shield of the lost or the aegis in the late game or depending on the situation. Then I proceed with the gaia standard, mail of pain and medallion of troy.
A build pretty good adapted to handle different situations.
In my opinion Mina is tier 1 for supports for soloQ, however, hou should have good synergy with your team. She can pair good with telannas, valhein, yorn and lindis.
well that is my ice mina build
essence of the wind, gilded greaves, hyoga.edge, frost cape, shield of the lost, herculles madness.
this build is focused in move speed reduction , preventing the prey from escape
I only played a few games with this build so far but for me it was fun.
1st Lapis Ring for mana. 2nd Boots of speed for speed. 3rd Gaias Standard for magical defense, health, speed, passive. 4th Rock Shield for armour, magical defense, hp, active (going along well with Minas 3rd ability). 1st(5th(already have the Lapis Ring))The Aegis for cooldown, armour, passive. 2nd(6th(already have Boots of Speed)) Gilded Greaves for magical defense, speed. 5th Amulett of Longlivety for hp, hp regen, passive. 6th Crimson Banner for armour, hp, passive( though you can switch it with other items like Medallion of Troy, Frostcape, Mail of Pain etc. whatever suits you/the situation)
This build only concentrates on durability as a pure tank for your team with hp, defense and actives/passives that go along well with that. So team up. You won´t be going solo or roaming much. (Though you could. You probably gonna last long enough to outrun the enemy to the next tower… even though it´s Snail Mina).
Of course (like almost every other build probably), you need to WANT that kind of playstyle that this build brings with it and be ABLE to play it.
I play my Mina a lot differently
I go sonic boots for first item, or water stone if I’m support laning. Then into gaia standard, tidecaller’s mark, finally mail of pain. Then it’s either amulet of l or medallion of troy depending on enemy lineup. It makes Mina extremely tanky and disruptive
I have a 70%++ win rate testing this from solo rank bottom tier to diamond. It’s really fun to play too, but it’s more of a solo rank build I guess
