Arena of Valor will be coming to North American mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch as Tencent announces a preregistration campaign to give out freebies.

Pre-registration is now underway in North America for Arena of Valor, Tencent’s popular free-to-play mobile Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA). It will be available on iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch in November this year. [Update: the release has now been postponed to 2018]

Pre-registration Rewards

Special freebies will be given to players registering during the pre-registration period. These items include limited character skins and a Level 3 Arcana chest for inviting 5 friends to sign up. When registrations reach the 100,000 mark, all players will receive 108 gems and a double-experience card. Users can also get Fennik 3-day trial cards and Rename cards by following the @ArenaofValor messenger bot on Twitter. Lastly, doing all the steps above will give the player a chance to win all heroes in the game.

Arena of Valor features intense player-versus-player (PvP) gameplay, similar to acclaimed MOBA juggernaut League of Legends. Players can choose from a roster of over 30 unique characters in 1v1, 3v3, or 5v5 matches. Games take place in a three-lane map, with creeps and defense towers aiding players to defeat the enemy team.

Arena of Valor also has a variety of single-player content. This allows players to have fun outside of competitive game modes while learning and experimenting with different heroes.

The game was first released in China under the name King of Glory (also translated as Honor of Kings, Glory of Kings, Strike of Kings, and Realm of Valor). After its initial launch, Arena of Valor went on to become the highest-grossing free-download mobile game app in the world. The game took the top spot of the 2016 China pan entertainment festival “China IP index value list – game list top 10.” In May of this year, Arena of Valor reached an astounding 160 million active players per month.

Because of its massive popularity, Nintendo and Tencent this year have confirmed a version of the game for the Nintendo Switch. The open beta will launch this winter, according to Tencent.
