Ormarr Item Builds
Core Items
These items are necessary in order to play Ormarr optimally. Only diverge from a core item if you are a very experienced player and/or you have a very good reason for doing so.
Gaia’s Standard offers a lot to the berserker: durability, movement speed, and a nice passive. While geared more towards magical defense, the item comes in use against physical foes as well through the health regenerated after taking damage. As someone who needs to stick to opponents in order to lay out his crowd control, the movement speed is a huge plus to Ormarr as well.
Hyoga’s Edge | While Ormarr is a control machine, he can always use more. Hyoga’s Edge gives him more by giving his normal attacks a slow. This additionally speeds Ormarr up, making him even more difficult to escape from. |
Optional Items
Frost Cape | If looking for even -more- crowd control, Frost Cape can be for you. The item offers a decent amount of armor and health along with some cooldown speed. Its main draw, however, is the area-of-effect slow it applies to an attack after using an ability. |
Wind Stone or Water Stone |
Given his support playstyle, Ormarr gan benefit greatly from being the holder of the team’s support item. He can benefit from both wind or water paths, though will be restricted to Essence of the Wind as a tier 3 when picking wind. That said, his penchant for roaming the map will make the extra gold that Wind Stone offers very useful. On the other hand, the more tanky Water items are a better fit for the berserker’s stats, and thereby can also be very tempting. |
Spear of Longinus | Spear of Longinus offers both offensive and defensive stats, which is perfect for bruisers like Ormarr. Its armor stripping passive is a great way to soften up enemies and is particularly effective on Ormarr. Several of Ormarr’s abilities will apply multiple stacks of the armor piercing passive, Unstoppable alone applying three |
Hercules’ Madness | Another combination of offensive and defensive ability, Hercule’s Madness can help squeeze victories out of otherwise tight fights. It grants a shield and attack damage for a few seconds whenever the wearer’s health falls below 40%. This is a great way to catch attackers off guard as well as maximize the time that Ormarr can spend helping his team in a fight. |
Mail of Pain | Mail of Pain offers some defense against physical damage dealers with an emphasis on marksmen. It reflects a percentage of the damage the wearer receives back at the attacker. As someone who enjoys rushing into the thick of battle and is often the target of enemy attacks, Ormarr can reflect quite a bit of damage in a single fight. |
Rankbreaker | While one of few purely offensive items on this list, the armor pierce that Rankbreaker offers can help Ormarr smash his opponents without regard to their defenses. In addition, the item speeds the user up when outside of combat, helping the berserker rush to his teammates to join their fights. |
Shield of the Lost is one of Ormarr’s options when upgrading Knight’s Plate, great for dealing with teams heavy on melee attackers. As Ormarr will often be in the thick of fights, he will be able to easily spread the shield’s aura to enemies. The large amount of health and armor it provides is also very welcome to the warrior.
The other choice when looking to upgrade Knight’s Plate, The Aegis is also another significant source of armor. It is much more utilitarian than Shield of the Lost, however, offering large amounts of mana and cooldown speed in place of any additional HP. Its passive only affects those who attack armor, making it less of a support item and more geared towards personal defense. That said, its slowing effect isn’t constrained by range and thereby can be a better choice when dealing with ranged enemies. |
Boots Upgrade
Gilded Greaves | Gilded Greaves helps Ormarr deal with magic damage but, more importantly, also offers Resistance. Resistance lowers the amount of time that a hero is affected by crowd control and thereby a very powerful stat. As Gilded Greaves is currently the only item that grants resistance, it is a very good choice when upgrading boots. |
Sonic Boots | Sonic Boots is for when dealing with a team heavy on attack damage, particularly if their heroes focus on their normal attacks. The armor is a nice bit of survivability, but the damage reduction against normal attacks will do a lot more in keeping Ormarr alive when it comes to marksmen. |
Sample Item Builds

Ormarr’s most typical role is that of a support tank, taking hits and setting up kills for his team. As such, we put together items that helped in these regards, either by pumping up his defenses or offering some sort of passive effect with which to set up kills. Essence of the Wind will assist Ormarr as he runs around the battlefield to gank as wewll as offer an escape for him or an ally when things look rough. Spear of Longinus has more of an offensive slant, but will additionally help weaken foes for Ormarr’s allies to clean up. Hyoga’s Edge and Gaia’s Standard offer significant defensive bonuses to fully harden Ormarr to outside attacks while additionally making the warrior harder to escape.
This build focuses more on pure survivability than on offering utility to the team. Ormarr already has a considerable amount of control that he can offer to the team, so instead we build him as a damage sponge. He will still have a little extra slowing power with Hyoga’s Edge, but has much more durability than anything else. Gaia’s Standard and Medallion of Troy offer him some nice regeneration effects in fights along with a great deal of defensive stats against Magic Damage, The Aegis joining into his large defenses as well. This build brings him up to 35% cooldown reduction, so he will be able to throw out a large amount of abilities to make up for the lack of item-based control.

Why are these builds so different than his pro builds under his strategy page?
We’re in the middle of moving builds from the strategy page over to each hero’s item builds page while shifting from pro builds to our own builds. It’s taking a bit of time, so please stay patient ^^;
